Star Plus promised 'Music Ka Maha Muqabla' as a path breaking show that was going to feature the best singing talents against each other for a period of 13 weeks. With the likes of Shaan, Shreya, Himesh, Shankar and Mika as judges, the press conference revealed 16 contestants in an orchestrated mayhem deeply interspersed with smoke and strobe effects. The grand stage posed the show backdrop and peripheral embellishments replicated different moods of music. The contestants were paired into groups and each group was allotted to a celebrity judge who was supposed to mentor them during the course of the show.
